Allan Douglas Thompson passed on to his maker on April 29, 2022.  Beloved by all he came in contact with – Al’s personality was second to none. Born in Vancouver B.C to Russell and Patricia Thompson on December 21st 1942, he grew up with his late brothers David the eldest and Younger brother Paul in a very loving and Christ centered home. Al quickly graduated from the University of British Columbia in Electrical Engineering with honors and went to work for Boeing in Seattle.

While at Boeing Al earned his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington at night school. He worked for Boeing his entire career and earned the highest title and acclaim for an engineer, Technical Fellow.  After a brief time in the Kirkland WA area Al moved the family to Vashon Island, Washington to fulfill his love for being around the water. Shortly thereafter he brought his Canadian roots to the whole family with a second home on Gabriola Island BC. Spending summers on Gabe, and work/commuting from Vashon Al really doubled down on being an Islander. He loved the peace of being around the water and enjoyed windsurfing, fishing, swimming and most of all salvaging drifting logs for firewood and creative projects. Al’s passion and love for Jesus never faltered, he sought constant learning in the Word.

Al loved his Lord and his Neighbor, and you knew it. AL’s final years and days were lovingly carried out with his wife and widow Joani Thompson. Als’s Second wife Virginia Thompson preceded him to Heaven in 2018. Al’s first wife Sharon Cooper survives him. Sons Brent and Paul with their wives Michelle and Mitzi along with grandchildren Kris, Spencer, Paige and Grant all will miss Al dearly. He will also be missed by his many life long friends and extended family members, his stepchildren/grandchildren, neighbors and the myriad people he affected through his life’s witness.
